Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (or in this case, YouTube)
As some of you may know, milena_d and I posted a new video for D/V called My Life Would Suck Without You the other day. Being the accommodating ladies that we are, we posted it on like 100 different servers so that anyone could watch it or download it depending on their preference. One of the places we posted it was on YouTube. Last night we had a solid 14 votes and a 5/5 overall rating. I look at it today and it now has 32 ratings and a 3/5 star rating. It's logical to assume that not everyone will like this video, that's fine, but in my experience there is only one reason for such a jump in numbers (specifically when it takes a dramatic turn in the opposite direction) - spammers. People who don't like one or both of the vidders (or the subject matter) and decide that instead of IGNORING the video like any sane person would do, they'll create 1000 different accounts and do their darndest to screw with the ratings.
So I ask you f-listers, why would someone do this? Seriously, because I am just not getting why an individual would care enough about one measly video to make over 10 different accounts in order to get us to feel bad about our video. We don't, but clearly that was the goal. I know that milena_d has been a constant target ...one time I recall her ratings even jumping from 15 to 40 in a matter of hours (which is nowhere near the norm for an SG-1 ship vid).
On a more positive note, I want to thank all of you WONDERFUL, AMAZING, STUPENDOUS....OTHER FLATTERING ADJECTIVES f-listers and non f-listers for taking the time out of your day to give us feedback! I've said it before and I'll say it again, out of all of the fandoms I've been a part of, the SG-1 fandom has been (by far) the most welcoming and suppportive one...which is why I keep coming back and doing more! So again, from milena_d and I, THANK YOU :)
